A Few of My Favorite Healing & Wellness Things
2024 is nearly over, and it’s been a year of deeper healing and wellness for me in many ways.
To spread the feeling better love, I want to share some of my newer wellness finds and favorites that have helped in my healing journey. Many of these you may want to add to your gift list or gift to others this holiday season!
Here goes!
Magnesium lotion - This is one that I love because it helps my kids at bed time which of course in turn helps me! While they're often not ready for bed, it helps them move along when I say we can use this lotion on their legs/feet if they get going.
And this lotion is a little miracle by the bed stand because I can rub this on their legs in the night if they have "growing pains", and it either truly helps, or helps their little mindset so they can get back to sleep. I suspect it’s some of both!
And, I love that this lotion is clean and high-quality, made by Earthley, a small family owned business. You can get magnesium bed time lotion here and check out many other amazing products and sales at Earthley.
Tallow Face Cream - When I started using the tallow cream, multiple people said I had a new glow, which is funny because I felt it too, and I’m not really that into beauty products or regimens. A few even asked if we were expecting again because I had that “pregnancy glow,” but it was really just the tallow :)
I first tried tallow face cream made by my friend (Joy Owens with Full Circle Farm) about a year ago, and it’s one of my top favorite products now. Tallow is rendered animal fat which Joy uses from her grass-fed beef. The tallow is apparently similar to the chemistry of our own skin, so it’s perfect for dryness, acne, or other issues with a long list of beneficial minerals and vitamins included.
I love Joy’s face cream which she sells at her farm store near Charlotte, but when I couldn’t get over there to get more once, I made a DIY version that was pretty good. It was simple with good quality tallow from Paleovalley. Next time I will try it by rendering beef suet into tallow myself, but this is one item I like to treat myself to by getting it from Joy when I can!
If you’re interested in the DIY route, here’s a recipe from the Wellness Mama. I can’t remember if this is what I used, but it looks close though Joy’s cream has some extra goodness included that I think I added as well. You can check out Joy's whipped silk tallow cream and other wonderful homemade items at her farm store Full Circle Farm.
Cold Calm, Throat Calm, Oscillococcinum, & Other Homeopathics – You need these homeopathic remedies on hand for the cold season where many of us are eating more sugary things, missing out on the outdoors and sunshine, and catching more crud!
These are a gift for helping to heal cold and flu symptoms much quicker and more effectively without junky over the counter meds or antibiotics. My kids enjoy taking them as they dissolve quickly and don’t taste bad. It’s worth noting that these particular blended remedies are not dairy-free, but other single remedies can also help tremendously with ailments and are dairy-free. You can find these combo homeopathics pretty readily now at places including Wal-Mart and Meijer, or you can get them at Amazon using these links.

Throat Calm - https://amzn.to/3VbGlQb
Oscillococcinum (flu-like symptoms) - https://amzn.to/3CPlaND
I’ve also learned about other homeopathic remedies recently in a class with Stephanie of Next Generation Homeopathy and highly recommend her classes to help you learn how to treat you and your family using natural remedies for common issues such as headaches and injuries and even for chronic issues such as migraines, thyroid issues, and more.
Healthy fats - Pumpkin seeds, Sunflower Seeds, Flax, Sesame, Tahini - As I’ve learned about optimizing and healing hormones, I’ve enjoyed healthier fats and incorporated some seed cycling into my routines. Here are some of the top healthy fats I’ve used the later half of this year by including them in salads, on roasted veggies, in smoothies, and more:

Dairy Free Protein - THM Protein Collagen and Optimized Plant Protein - While I aim to get my main protein from real food sources, there are times that I use a clean high-quality protein in my smoothies or maybe add it to warm tea for a super quick source of protein on the go. I’ve enjoyed these dairy free sources from Trim Healthy Mama this year because they’re great quality and dairy free.
Optimized Plant Protein - This dairy free protein is better than most you’ll find because it has the essential amino acids added for building muscle which I’m interested in even more as I age for many reasons.
Optimized Collagen - I’ve used the THM collagen for some years given the many benefits of collagen, but this new product is even better as it’s been optimized to be a complete protein with the 9 amino acids added. Most collegens are really more of beauty products, but this one can be used as a real protein source (and added to coffee, hot tea, etc).
Another item I've used this year after my lifting workouts is the THM Essential Amino Acids because it is a great source of bioavailable protein that helps to build muscle and can help to beef up the protein in a meal if you don't have enough protein from real food sources for any reason (just drink a scoop or half scoop with water, and you'll have the protein you need).
Tooth powder - I’ve been testing various cleaner tooth pastes and powders and found one that I enjoy most now from Earthley. I’m using the Lemon Berry flavor because mint products can inactivate the homeopathics I’m using. But the flavor is of course personal preference. This powder makes my teeth feel really clean and smooth, and it brings laughs to my children who like to see my teeth/mouth turn black from the activated charcoal. We always need more laughs so it's a hit! And several of my kids love to used it too. You can find the tooth powder here at Earthley.
Vitamin C Sources - I’m always looking to support or boost the kids’ immune systems in this colder season, and this is a simple way to do so by adding this powder into smoothies. It’s made with real food sources and available in powder or capsules at Earthley. I also have been taking a super high-quality Vitamin C pill made by Standard Process on days that we feel any sickness coming on. Kids can use this as well if they can swallow pills. You can get other homemade recipes and tips to help support immune systems in my free e-guide called Food-Based Immune Boosters for Your Family.
Favorite Books - The Emotionally Healthy Woman and Surrender Your Story are written by Christian women who have worked on their healing with the Lord at the lead. I’ve learned and grown from reading these books and highly recommend them to everyone!
Biolplasma Cell Salts - These are a new addition to my our health habits this cold season. These provide key minerals for healing and immune health and are an easy one to give kids as they enjoy taking them. We’ve used this Hylands version for the kids though I also take this dairy free version.
Detox Baths - I've added occasional detox baths to my wellness practices this year. I try to do them a couple times a week in the early mornings while reading my Bible or praying. I use a couple cups of Ancient Minerals Magnesium Bath Flakes, a few drops of Lavendar Oil, a small shake of borax, and half a cup of baking soda in as hot water as I can stand. There are many benefits including reducing stress, healing pain or inflammation, flushing toxins, and promoting sleep. You can also get bath kits I’ve made for you by emailing me at support@savorlifewellness.com
The Bible Recap has been my primary Bible reading plan this year, and I’ve so enjoyed the teaching and perspective shared by Tara Leigh Cobble. She provides a reading plan for each day and then a free video or podcast overview of the reading with a primary focus being on knowing God. I love her Godshots! Here’s how you can join in now or in 2025.
Castor Oil Packs - I added castor oil packs to my healing regimen this year to specifically help in healing my liver function. I’ve used these castor oil pack products from Earthley and really like them.
Or, another widely recommended pack and oil which I’ve also used is by the Queen of Thrones and available here.
Fermented Cod Liver Oil - Cod Liver Oil has many benefits such as feeding the brain, aiding in digestion, and bone health to name just a few. I feel a difference in my mood when I take it – it seems to lift my mood, so it’s a part of my morning supplements, and this fermented option is the best I've found in capsule form.
Brave Moms - This one is last but not least! Brave Moms is a special online community to help Christian Mamas raise emotionally healthy, authentic kids. I joined Brave Moms this year after a good friend suggested it. I hoped to gain tools to help me better handle frustrations with kids' behavior, and exhaustion/overwhelm at times with managing mom life and all else we juggle. Honestly, I love mothering, but also feel at times, I'm not equipped to do it well and handle all the other parts of life.
While I've gained so much helpful insight into better mothering, what I've learned from Brave Moms is so far beyond that, it's hard to fully describe. But, I'll try! Brave Moms has helped me through mothering issues, but more importantly, it's helped me with so many of my own heart issues and contributed to significant emotional and spiritual healing for me this year, such as knowing better who I am in Jesus, letting go of so many hinderances and lies that have held me down, and surrendering to God--placing my kids and marriage into his hands so I can serve from his overflowing love vs control and feeling like I have to do what's "right" or hold it all together. Truly, it's all about Jesus and he's what will hold me together and our kids too if they choose to follow him, which is also in His hands, not ours though we can pray and shepherd them! If you want to know more, free free to ask me or check out the amazing lead mama Katie here on her page.
Talking about wellness and healing is another of my favorite things, so please free to email me if you have any questions.
